The holiday season has come and gone the Three Kings Festival as popular as ever with old and young alike - massive snow falls on the Sierra Nevada to the delight of Salobreña's Skiing fraternity and none stop sunshine to the delight of the rest of us.

The weather since Christmas has just been incredible, but isn't that why we came to the Costa Tropical after all. Holiday making families have been spotted swimming in the sea, the white legs brigade have been out in force proving to us just how cold it must be in the "Frozen North" - completely out of season for that sort of thing you may say but it must be said that even an un-named Salobreña native has been seen roaming about the village in short sleeves over the past few weeks.

What are they doing to our village.........First the underpass walls tiled in the most splendid fashion then the launch of the fountain in Plaza Goya and now our brand new and splendid Tourist Information Office also in Plaza Goya.

The inauguration of the fountain was presided over by Mayor Jesús Avelino Menéndez. The event took place on a balmy evening in September watched by a substantial crowd of local villagers and diners on the pavement tables outside the Bodega Restaurant. The fountain is computer controlled and has been designed to respond to music being played from surrounding loudspeakers. It is also elaborately lit, the lighting also responds to the music.

The imposing new Tourist information office opened its' doors for business during the first week of January 2004. This is a welcome event for tourists and locals alike. The previous office stood only metres away from the new venue and was well supported. The location couldn't be more convenient and local residents will be pleased to know that Juan Manuel who did such a good job previously is still firmly at the helm. There is space for more literature and a computer screen providing Internet access for clients. In addition there are telephone facilities and an audio visual display zone with a screen, offering tourist images and news articles.

The office comprises, offices, store rooms, washroom facilities and is a shining example of Salobreña's attitude and intentions with regard to tourism. It is situated in Plaza Goya at the junction of Avenida's Mediterranean and Garcia Lorca which are the main access roads to Salobreña beaches. The office will offer information on museums, lodgings, Salobreña and the Costa Tropical in General. There will also be available literature from other areas of Granada and Andalucia.

To contact the office phone (00 34) 958 61 0314 or E-mail turismo@ayto-salobrena.org.
